DR. JONATHAN BURNHAM IN SE ASIA 2023:

Jonathan spent 3 weeks in early 2023 throughout SE Asia.

Bangkok, Thailand:

Training a group from 4 SE Asia countries in his Encountering Christ book, an overview of the Bible from a Christocentric theology.

The group pictured below completed the 3-year training cycle of training with Dr. Burnham. Our cycle consists of 3 training events and includes the study of the Seven Steps of Christian Living and Encountering Christ materials. During the training sessions we do in-depth reviews of the mentorship multiplication process. Our regional Ministry Partners extensively follow up on every participant and help them succeed in making disciples who reproduce.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR UPDATE: Dr. Joshua Nguyen

Dr. Joshua Nguyen received his Doctorate in Educational Ministry from Union University. He has been a BMI trainer for many years and now directs the ministry of BMI in Indochina, which includes Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos.  In 2023, Joshua has traveled to many regions of these countries meeting with leaders and promoting the BMI mentorship multiplication ministry to churches and colleges.  Dr. Joshua has a well- planned and thought out mission. Below are some pictures of his visit to Cambodia where he presented vision casting to Pastor Heng Cheng, a prominent Christian leader in that country. He also met with Minh Dang in Vietnam, who is a long-time, faithful friend of the Burnham family. (We cannot post many pictures for safety reasons.)

In 2004, Joshua and his wife, Linh, founded Vietnam Workplace Christian Fellowship – a unique workplace ministry for Vietnam focusing on a Workplace Discipleship Movement. They have also served as mentors and master trainers for key leaders in their local churches or workplaces. In addition, for almost 8 years, Joshua and Linh founded and continue the Marketplace Biblical Mentorship Program.  This consists of 3 areas of training for young, Christian professionals in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.  The 3 areas are: Encountering Christ, 7 Steps of Christian Living, and Leadership training. Each year he graduates a new class!  Jonathan Burnham and friends were able to join them this year.

MINISTRY PARTNERS:

Each ministry Regional Director and Ministry Partner focuses on 7 Areas/Goals:

1. Foundations (living the mentorship life/ leading by example)

2. Financial Sustainability - working toward and maintaining their own financial support so not to rely on western money

3. Teaching the BMI 7 Steps of Christian Living to groups and in their mentorship settings

4. Teaching additional BMI materials including Encountering Christ, Practical training, Technology and the Family, Living with Your Emotions

5. Establishing BTMP partnerships with colleges and seminaries to incorporate in their curriculum

6. Thorough follow up on all

7. Work toward developing Mentorship Multiplication Movements in their areas

SE ASIA MINISTRY PARTNER 2023 UPDATES:

David Hopkhop - Laos

Rev. David Hopkhop lives in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. He is a pastor, a farmer, and the leader of a major church planting movement called Mekong and Beyond, which encompasses countries such as Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

David’s first encounter with BMI was in 2014. Since then, he has joined our ministry as a powerful opportunity to disciple the next level of national leaders who focus on mentorship multiplication movements.

Pastor Nueng Sarayuth - Thailand

Thailand Ministry Partner pastor Nueng relentlessly trains pastors to be effective disciple-makers. Not only that, but he leads with personal examples in mentorship, evangelism and church planted. Pastor Nueng planted a new church in Thailand. His movement is called "Mekong and Beyond" which seeks to reach people along the great Mekong River. The Mekong River runs through southwest China, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Pastor Nueng also is working hard on mentoring others including using the 7 Steps of Christian Living to disciple couples.

Rev. Ely Roy Bhojwani - Philippines

Rev. Ely Roy Bhojwani is the Senior Pastor of Living Waters of Christ International Ministries in Valenzuela City, Metro Manila. After earning a BSBA degree with a Major in Banking and Finance, Roy pursued his theological training at the International Bible Training College in Sussex, England.

Roy has been in the pastoral ministry for more than 20 years and actively participates in various church ministries in Manila and other parts of the Philippines. He is currently serving as the vision keeper of the Elders of Valenzuela City, a local ministerial association composed of around 250 pastors from various denominations in the city.

Roy became BMI Ministry Partner in the Philippines in 2022. He is excited about beginning to train other Christian leaders in mentorship ministries.

SE ASIA WOMEN:

Three key women, mentored in the 7 Steps of Christian Living by Faith Burnham, are training groups and mentoring in Vietnam and Cambodia.

Sopheary Hem in Cambodia was Faith's translator years ago for Technology and Your Family, and is a faithful leader among women in her country.  She has embraced the mentorship lifestyle and is training others to do so. Sopheary has a sweet and kind spirit and has been through much suffering. But the Lord has worked amazingly, and she is dedicated to training women!

Lan Thao Phan (Kristy) in Vietnam is a pastor's wife who is very dedicated with lots of energy for the Lord!  She is a leader amongst women in the area on a coastal town of Vietnam. After the 7 Steps training, she immediately was teaching the material to several groups in her church. She and Faith are now going through the Technology and Your Family training.  Kristy's long time friend and pastor, Miss Phuong, also was part of this group.
