Dr. Vitaliy Sorokun

Dr. Vitaliy Sorokun

BMI Mentorship Multiplication Director / BMI Slavic Director
Dr. Vitaliy Sorokun holds a PhD in International Law and a Doctor of Ministry degree and has served with Burnham Ministries International since 1998. Originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine, he was ordained as a pastor in 2002 and was personally mentored by Dr. Jonathan Burnham, whose influence helped shape his lifelong commitment to mentorship and leadership multiplication.
In 2001, Vitaliy founded the BMI Ministry Training Center in Kharkiv, which later became the foundation for planting New Hope Church, where he served as founding pastor. Alongside his ministry leadership, he served for many years as an Associate Professor of International Law at a leading Law University in Ukraine, contributing to teaching and academic research on international religious freedom.
From 2018 to 2023, he served as Director of the Foreign Missions Department of the Baptist Union of Ukraine, providing vision and leadership for cross-cultural mission sending. In his current role, Vitaliy oversees strategy development and implementation in more than 20 countries, mentoring national leaders and guiding multiplication efforts across regions. He is married to Tetiana, and they live in Warsaw, Poland.

BMI Regional Director for Indochina

Dr. Joshua Nguyen received his Doctorate in Educational Ministry from Union University. He has been a BMI trainer for many years and now directs the ministry of BMI in Indochina, which includes Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos.

In 2004, Joshua and his wife, Linh, founded Vietnam Workplace Christian Fellowship – a unique workplace ministry for Vietnam focusing on a Workplace Discipleship Movement. They have also served as mentors and master trainers for key leaders in their local churches or workplaces.

Joshua and Linh have two children – daughter Thien Y and son David.

Regional Director for South Asia and Nepalese People

Sonam and his wife, Rita, have served with BMI since 2001. Their friendship with Dr. David and Dr. Jonathan Burnham began much earlier, in 1989, when BMI conducted its first training event for Nepalese pastors and leaders on the Siliguri border with Nepal. Sonam served there as an interpreter for the Burnhams. Since 2001, Sonam has been traveling extensively, developing national leaders, and training in various Bible seminaries in South Asia and the Middle East. Sonam and Rita hold master’s degrees in theology from The Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary in Hong Kong. They have two daughters, Keren and Priya Kabo, both of whom are now married.

BMI Regional Director of Africa

Dr. Lincoln Chirochierwa joined BMI as the Ministry Partner in Southern Africa (Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe) in 2022. He is now the Regional Director for Africa. Prior to his role with BMI, Lincoln received his education in Kharkiv, Ukraine, Where he earned his M.D. degree in medicine. While in Ukraine, Lincoln was personally mentored by Dr. Vitaliy Sorokun Under his influence, Lincoln responded to the call of full-time ministry. Since joining BMI, Lincoln has equipped local church leaders and led the mentorship multiplication movements in Malawi, Zambia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. He currently lives in Dar es Salam, Tanzania, with his wife, Melisa.

BMI Russia Regional Director

Sergey is the Superintendent of the Baptist churches in the Kaluga region in Western Russia. He is also a leading minister of the Pastoral Department in the Union of Evangelical Christians – Baptist of Russia. His primary focus is mentoring and growing a new generation of leaders for the Russian-speaking churches, and he is building his ministry around the BMI mentorship multiplication philosophy.

Sergey is married to Diana, a widely recognized women’s ministry leader in Russia. Together, they raise three children: Yana, Lisa, and Elisha.

BMI Women’s Ministries Director

Nadia has served with BMI since 2013 when, together with her husband Vitaly, she participated in the Encountering Christ conference in Ukraine, led by Dr. Jonathan Burnham. Nadia and her husband, Vitaly, a Baptist pastor and professor at Kharkiv Regional Bible College, live in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Nadia has been the Director of the Women’s Ministry for Kharkiv Regional Baptist Union since 2007. Recently, she has become a member of the European Baptist Women United Committee. She holds a master’s degree from Kharkiv National University School of Foreign Languages.

Nadia and Vitaly have three grown daughters – Katya, Alina, Victoria – and six grandchildren.
